Cooperative Ecosystems for Rural Revitalisation in China:

An International Workshop for a GCRF Pilot Project in Sichuan

Time: 9:00 - 12:00 GMT or 17:00 - 20:00 China Standard Time

Date: 3 &4 December 2020

Location: MS Teams meeting

To achieve the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDGs), there is an effort to bring together millions of small farmers to help them better adapt and integrate into external markets. The University of Nottingham Global Challenge Research Fund (UoN-GCRF) awarded a pilot project - Cooperative ecosystem to empower small farmers in China: A pilot project in the poor areas of Sichuan to explore this. The conclusion of the pilot project by the end of December 2020 coincides with the completion of Chinese government campaign on “targeted poverty alleviation” in its less developed regions.

This online workshop aims to:

  1. Facilitate academic exchange along the line of achieving SDGs through rural innovation and cooperative development in marginal areas of the developing world.

  2. Stimulate trade, investment, entrepreneurship and innovation collaboration through UK-China partnerships among participating research institutes, government agencies, civil societies and AgriFood companies.

This UK-China workshop lasting two half days is jointly organised by University of Nottingham via Nottingham University Business School, Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (HGI), Asia Business Centre; and Sichuan Agricultural University via Schools of Agriculture, Management, Economics and Rural Tourism. It is supported by the UK-China Agricultural Innovation Network, the Research Centre of Cooperative Economics, part of Rural Development Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (RDI-CASS); Centre for International Agricultural Research of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CIAR-CAAS), College of International Development and Global Agriculture of China Agricultural University (CIDGA-CAU), YouChange China Social Entrepreneur Foundation (YouChange); NUBS China, part of University of Nottingham Ningbo Campus (UNNC).
